I know it has been awhile since my last post. I worked last week the most I have worked since before my recurrence. It felt good to be productive but didn't leave much time for blogging. The Athena's Run is always humbling for us. We are surrounded with so many people who love us. Many traveled to be with us that weekend, and those that couldn't be there sent texts and love instead.
The fundraising aspect was AMAZING! I still have a hard time believing that we raised over $13,000! Thank you to all who gave, no matter the size. There were people from both of our jobs that donated, people that read our story on theberry.com, high school classmates who I haven't seen in years, friends, and family. We won the top fundraising team and that was the award that Wil and I really wanted. We won box seats to a Dash (local baseball team) game next year. We can't wait to go and celebrate, especially since we will be done with chemo. I may even have some hair by then!
As many of you know, we won the first ever team spirit award last year. We were very happy that Team Ludie won it this year. They had the best cheer, dogs in tutus, and an awesome t-shirt design. The sister of Ludie even came up to congratulate us and check in to see how we were doing.
My wonderful, teal Mohawk lasted for the run, which was my goal. I tried to not touch it the week coming up to the run since it was already falling out with the lightest tug. I got some funny looks from some guests at work but it was well worth it. That night, it got really itchy and was falling out in clumps. I will save the hair experience for another post.
Wil and I are so happy to be one month done with chemo. We have the big chemo tomorrow and look forward to starting round two! Sound weird to say that we look forward to chemo, but that means that we are closer to being done with it.
